While you may not be familiar with her name, there’s no doubt you have seen Taylour Paige on TV or at the movie theater. After her start as a dancer, Paige was offered some roles in commercials and then a role as a leading dancer in The High School Musical and got her first role in a series when she was chosen to play Ahsha Hayes in Hit the Floor, a VH1 series that centered around a group of cheerleaders for a mythical basketball team, according to IMBD. She was a key figure in the series for the first three years it was on the air, per TV Guide.
ZOLA:
One of the biggest roles the actress has taken on was in Zola. The film was released in 2020, and features Paige along with Riley Keough, the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley. The story follows two friends as they go to Florida to earn some fast money by dancing as strippers. As you can imagine, all does not go well. The women expected to make a big haul of money after hearing that some strippers earn over $5,000 in just one night. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for the two young women, and they turn to other activities and finally get involved in a sex ring.

The movie Zola, was first introduced at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020. It received very positive reviews from critics, who pointed out the great performances as well as work on the screenplay and editing. The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. It also received seven nominations; Taylour Paige won the award for the Best Female Lead and the Best Editing award for Joi McMillon.
After the success of Zola, the actress continued to act in several other highly acclaimed films and shows with some of today’s leading stars. As a follow up to Zola, she appeared in an adaptation of Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom which featured an all-star cast including Viola Davis and the late Chadwick Boseman. She also turned in highly-praised performances in Jean of the Joneses, White Boy Rick, and Fresh off the Boat Boogie.
